The Western region of Kenya should expect more rainfall, since this year, the region is expected to experience more rainfall than the normal rate. Speaking in his office, the Kakamega County meteorological director Vincent Sakwa insisted that the rainfall season is expected to stretch to late December.
He specifically cited the lower parts of Kakamega, which are expected to experience heavy downpour accompanied by lightning and thunder. He also mentioned other challenges that will accompany the heavy downpour, including strong winds, mudslides and flash floods and cautioned residents against farming along river banks. He further advised locals in the region to take this opportunity to harvest and store the rain water, which can later be used for irrigation.
