Over one hundred widows from Bukembe location in Kanduyi constituency, Bungoma County are a happy lot after they received donations of food and non food items from Deliverance church as it marked its 15 years anniversary.
Speaking during the presentation, the church Reverend Caleb Mokichar said it was a way of giving back to the society saying they identified the group as the most vulnerable in the society especially during the Coronavirus pandemic.
He said as a church they will be practical to help the less fortunate by providing them with food saying spiritual nourishment alone will not be enough and urged other churches to follow suit.
Area assistant County commissioner Dickens Mawere called upon the residents to keep following the rules and guidelines from the Ministry of Health regarding Covid-19 infection prevention, noting that they need to be safe. He added that with the circumcision season ongoing in Bungoma residents need to be careful saying they will not condone people congregating without observing social distancing rules.
