A 39-year-old man from Nzoia village in Likuyani Sub County is nursing serious injuries in hospital after his wife poured boiling water on his private parts following a domestic row on Sunday morning.

Speaking from his hospital bed at Matunda Sub County hospital, Mr. Anthony Werunga, a bodaboda operator, recounted to journalists events leading to the painful ordeal caused by his wife, Mrs. Peninah Mutoro.

“I arrived at my house on Saturday at about 8 pm then my wife served me dinner as usual,” recalled Werunga, claiming trouble between the two started when he requested the wife to give him his phone, national identity card (ID) and a land purchase agreement document.

“But my wife refused to provide the items, prompting a bitter quarrel between us that lasted for several hours,” added Werunga, a  father of six.

Fatigued after hours of quarreling, the couple retired to bed, and according to Werunga, he fell asleep immediately.

The wife sneaked out of the bedroom and went to the kitchen where she boiled water, “Thereafter she stealthily returned to the bedroom  and poured the hot water on my genitals at about 3am on Sunday,” added Werunga.

According to the husband, the wife then dashed out of the house leaving him groaning in pain.

“She surfaced at about 5am threatening to cause me more harm, she instead poured flour on my genitals, perhaps as an attempt to cool the scalded part,” claimed Werunga.

Thereafter, the woman hurriedly packed a few of her belongings before she walked away, leaving behind the couple’s seven-month-old baby.

The victim was rescued and rushed to hospital by his brothers.

According to Mrs. Rhoda Were, a nurse at the health facility, it will take some time before the man recovers from his injuries.

“This is because the burn is approximately 60 percent,” revealed the nurse who added the victim arrived at the health facility while in bad shape.

Werunga is now demanding legal action against his wife.

The couple has been married for the last 15 years.
