Angry mob torched a hotel at Chwele market in Kabuchai constituency as they demonstrated against a woman who burnt a young man with hot soup on Monday night.
The demonstrations saw travelers from various parts of the county to remain stranded for 4 to 5 hours and business people being forced to close their business or fear of looting.
The mob accused the woman of unleashing a reign of attacks to her clients of low standards and sidling majority of them.
There were running battles between the police and the demonstrators for the better part of Monday night and Tuesday morning when they decided to torch the business.
According to Christopher Simiyu the woman attacked him after he insisted on eating mutura that her son had refused to give him. He added that the woman intervene without any word and got a pot full of boiling soup that was at the verandah and poured on him burning half of his chest.
“This mama did not even know our confrontation but she chipped in without saying anything and poured hot soup on my chest saying I had refused to pay Ksh.10 after I had eaten her mutura, he said.
The poor boy is now calling on judiciary to exercise its mandatory and let the woman pay heavily for her deeds.
The angry residents who had burnt down the premises that the woman had been conducting business in have called on security officers to arrest the woman who had gone into hiding and her whole family.
They accused her of her wanting behavior of slapping men at her hotel wherever they eat and ask for balance.
The Kabuchai sub county acting deputy county commissioner Fredrick Nduvi who intervened after the mob had defeated the security officers, appealed for calm as the security departments engage into investigation to take the matter to the court.
Also the acting DCC asked the residents to keep peace and unity as the country heads to the general election next year.
Present was Kabuchai Member of Parliament James Lusweti who insisted for stiff action on the culprit and requested for her to meet the medication expenses for the victim. He promised to hold a joint public meeting with all the residents and security officers.
