A woman from Visunu village in Malava sub county shocked residents after burning her house following domestic conflict.
According to the officer in charge of Centre for legal Aid and advisory service under the icare organization based at Kaburengu in Matete Mrs. Sarah Navalayo Sirengo, the case about standing domestic feud between Mr. Jafred Kubwa and his wife Mercy Nasike was reported to her office and she took an initiative to reconcile two.
She said she took up the case and led a team from her office to the family and held a lengthy roundtable discussion with the couple together with elders from their families and after listening to the two parties it was established that Nasike was the cause of problem.
Navavalo said after the meet they sat separately with Nasike where they gave her psychosocial counseling and she agreed to change and leave peacefully with her husband.
However she said they were shocked when Nasike decided to buy petrol poured on the house and set it ablaze.
Navalayo said nothing was salvaged from the house apart from Nasike’s clothes which she removed from the house before setting it on fire.
Nasike was arrested and locked up at Malava police station before being released later and travelled back to her parents in the neighbouring Bungoma county.
