A notorious middle aged woman known as Sarah Nanyama also famously called Matakweyi known for selling bhang and illegal alcohol at Maroro village in Matulo sub location in Webuye West sub county was arrested early in the morning by Webuye township senior chief Misiko Barasa with assistance from Webuye division assistant county commissioner Penina Kuto and his assistant chief township sub location Peter Watima and Matulo assistant chief Pius Wanyonyi with the aid of village elders with 2kg bhang of average value of 20,000/-, changaa 22 litres and 16 rolls of bang.
Sarah Nanyama for a long time had escaped from being arrested but her days were over after villagers ganged up with national administration to make sure that she is arrested.
Webuye township senior chief Misiko Barasa addressing media said the lady had been very notorious for selling bhang to the residents and worse of it all she also sells to school going kids which has contributed to many school dropouts in Matulo sub location and every time they planned to arrest her she would escape and they laid a trap in secretly.
“This lady has really messed up with lives of many young boys in the village, the use of bhang in Matulo area and Dina has been on high rate and we established that she was the main source and therefore we worked together with the community to make sure that they arrest her to stop the habit ” said senior chief Misiko.
Misiko appreciated the good will and great relationship from the community who have always informed the administration on anything bad happening and have also assisted in ensuring that people who interfere with peace are flashed out and called on many other people to make sure that they support in order to make sure that there is security in the community.
He also called upon parents to be vigilant especially with their children who are still in school and give them guidance as some may be ruined by bad companies and characters like Sarah Nanyama who needs to be given stern warning.
He also appealed to women and men in the location and across the country to engage in legal businesses that are licensed adding that both governments: national and counties have trade and other loans that are geared to helping them economically and asked them to seize from doing illegal businesses like selling of drugs that is harmful to young generation.
Webuye division assistant county commissioner Penina Kuto said that the plan to weed out such characters in the community is ongoing and warned for dire consequences to anyone who will be found involving in such illegal and unlicensed businesses and asked the community to support the initiative by giving information to the government for action to be taken.
Sarah was arraigned in Webuye law courts and pleaded guilty but was remanded for fourteen days as the police do investigations.
