A sad mood enveloped Kambi Mapesa village, Seregeya sub location in Likuyani sub county after the body of a 40 year old woman suspected to have been brutally murdered in what is believed to be a love triangle case was discovered dumped in the nearby forest.
Confirming the incident, Seregeya Sub location senior assistant chief Mrs. Diana Owano said the body was found by two boys who were grazing animals in the forest. “The boys were looking after cattle in the forest near Kambi mapesa primary school when they discovered the body hidden in one of the thickets inside the forest before they alerted the area village elder who later informed me,” said Owano.
The local administrator said together with officers from Turbo police station they visited the scene where they found the body of the woman identified as Lillian Chepkor with serious visible injuries.
The body was moved to Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital Mortuary in Eldoret as police launched investigations into the cruel murder.
Owano said two prime suspects Jackson Mugasali and his wife Dorcas Khayeti have already been arrested with the third suspect still at large.
According to the administrator, the deceased who hails from the neighbouring Turbo sub county was in a love relationship with Mugasali and on the fateful day the two lovebirds had spent the day together in a friend’s house within Kambi Mapesa village.
She said after giving his house to the two lovers, the owner only identified by the nickname as Junior alerted Mugasali’s wife.
She said the wife waylaid Chepkor as she left back home in the evening accosted and attacked her with a sharp object killing her on the spot before dumping her body in the forest and fled.
She said said Mugasali was arrested in his home while his wife Dorcas Khayeti was arrested by criminal investigation officers at Mwamba in the neighbouring Lugari sub county where she had gone to seek refuge in her sister’s home. The third suspect, who is only identified as Junior is still at large.
