Woman Representative Candidate in Vihiga County Winnie Majani has called upon women to be peace ambassadors in the coming elections.
According to her, women are the cornerstone of the society and should take up the role of advocating for peace during and after elections in their small social gatherings like chamas, market places and family gatherings.
The leader believes that championing for peace through empowerment groups at the grass root level will go a long way in achieving the national agenda of a peaceful election.
Women, though minorities, are active promoters of sustainable peace clearly seen in childhood upbringing and taking care of families.
“Women are mothers or mother figures who have earned respect in the society and can get people listen and act in solidarity, use that chance to advocate for peaceful elections.” Said Majani.
The leader who is venturing into politics for the first time promised to use her leadership position, if elected to ensure women and youth issues are well articulated and with long term solutions.
She asked women to embrace leadership roles and support female leaders who champion for women rights.
