Anglican Church of Kenya Nandi Women president Mrs. Celine Korir has asked women in Nandi and the nation as a whole to contest for top seats in the coming August general elections.
Addressing women in Kapsabet during a women meeting, Korir cited that women have been for long underrated and seen as lesser people in the society therefore it is high time for them to be given an opportunity to make their own decisions.
“Let us give women an opportunity to have a voice right at the family level.” said Korir
Celine who was with various women leaders across Nandi County asked the government to fight for the women rights in order to have women standing on their own, asking them to consider vying for different political positions as they have the same opportunity with their male counterparts.
“I want to urge women to come out strongly without any fear and contest for various elective seats in the next coming August general elections as they are capable and strong,” she added
She affirmed that if people will continue carrying on seeing women like lesser human beings, then they will be contributing to the under development of our own country.
Nandi county at large has a good number of women who have already shown interest in political posts and are now on ground selling their agenda ahead of the August 9, 2022 general elections.
