Divergent views are still coming up concerning the self announcement of Kimilili MP Didmus Barasa as the chairperson of Jubilee Party in Bungoma County.
Speaking during a fundraising in Khalala Friends Church in Sitikho ward Webuye West Constituency, the area MP Dan Wanyama urged the Kimilili legislator to be patient and wait for the party’s elections in the region to be announced. “There is nothing like a new jubilee party chairperson in Bungoma County. I want to tell my brother Didmus to be patient until the election period reaches,” he said, “At the moment, John Waluke is the chairperson of our party.”
He further said that politicians should ensure the Luhya community has representation in the post 2022 government, “Am urging seasoned politicians to ensure that in 2022 our people are in the government that will be formed. For many years our people have been used by politicians and have ended up in the opposition,” he said “I’m ready to lead Western people to the government in 2022.”
Bungoma East KNUT Vice Secretary Elvis Waswa told parents to co-operate with teachers to see that their children don’t miss school this third term to enable them to prepare fully for the coming national examinations.
“I would like to urge parents to co-operate with teachers, especially this last term when we have national exams. I’m also urging teachers to use all the methods required so that we may prepare our children well. I know there are conflicts between KNUT and TSC but don’t let this affect our service delivery and the education of our children,” he explained.
John Murutu, the area assistant chief, urged the County government of Bungoma through the Ministry of Health to employ more nurses and clinical officers in Khalala Dispensary to help patients who walk for long distances to look for medication.
