Duncan Mukabana, a bright and determined student from Eshakhulu village in Mumias East Constituency, finds his aspirations slipping away due to a financial crisis. Enrolled at Masinde Muliro University of Science and Technology in Kakamega, Duncan is pursuing a degree in Paramedical Science—a field he has long dreamed of excelling in. However, his dreams are now under threat, as the lack of tuition fees has forced him to put his education on hold.
Duncan’s journey has been far from easy. Coming from a family struggling with financial difficulties, he was compelled to drop out during his first year at the university because he couldn’t afford the necessary fees. To compound the problem, he still owes a significant amount of money to his former high school, Kakamega Boys, which has prevented him from obtaining his academic certificates.
“I was born in a family that is not well-off, but through the help of donors, I was able to attend high school. However, the sponsor withdrew their support before I finished my studies, and now I have a large debt of seventy thousand shillings with Kakamega High School. As a result, I have not been allowed to collect my certificates.” Explained Duncan

In a heartfelt plea, Duncan is reaching out to the community, well-wishers, and local leaders, including Mumias East MP Peter Salasya and Kakamega County Governor Fernandes Barasa, seeking support to continue his studies.
