In a dynamic show of support for the region’s young talent, Bungoma County Chief Officer for Sports and Youth, Timothy Wanjala, has called on local youth to embrace sports and other positive activities as a pathway to personal and professional growth. Speaking at a talent search event in Tongaren Sub-County, Wanjala highlighted the profound impact of sports in developing essential life skills, including teamwork, leadership, and discipline.
“Sports are not just about physical fitness; they are a cornerstone of personal development,” Wanjala stated. “They teach invaluable lessons that extend far beyond the playing field, shaping the leaders of tomorrow.”
The event, which saw a significant turnout of enthusiastic young participants, was a testament to the region’s burgeoning talent. Wanjala, alongside Director of Youth and Sports, David Kalamu, emphasized that engaging in sports can significantly enhance self-confidence and foster a sense of community.
Pledging to broaden the scope of talent search initiatives, Wanjala promised more opportunities for young people to showcase their skills. This commitment aims to provide a platform for emerging talents to shine and make meaningful contributions to their communities.
With a renewed focus on youth empowerment, the region is set to witness an era of increased participation in sports and constructive activities, paving the way for a brighter, more engaged future.
The End Sexual and Gender-Based Violence (SGBV) and Teen Pregnancy Awareness show was organized by Namalwa Chesoli, Founder of the Hers Haven Initiative, in partnership with the Mighty Jambo Circus Academy in Nairobi. The event aimed to encourage youths to use their talents to positively change their lives by training and performing on international stages.
