Confirming the incident Lugari OCPD Bernard Macharia said police officers attached to Mlimani patrol base ambushed the two suspects at 3 am before arresting them with several rolls of bhang.

The officers then destroyed hundreds of bhang stems growing on a section of a one-acre maize plantation, estimated to attract thousands of shillings, and which was alleged to have been planted by the two suspects, according to Macharia.

“Acting on a tip-off from members of the public, the officers raided the compound at about 3 am where they found and uprooted the cannabis which had been planted in the middle of a maize plantation,” explained Macharia.
