Sikhendu Member Of County Assembly Andrew Sichangi Kutitila, has accused IEBC of giving Ugandans a chance to register saying the move is scandalous and must be stopped to ensure that only Kenyans register as voters.
Kutitila questioned how IEBC could carry out such an exercise knowing fine well originality of the said group, appealing to the relevant authorities to chase up the matter.
He took issue with IEBC for failing to verify the documents presented by people who have so far registered, allaying fears that such reckless move could bring issues in future if not rectified early enough .
Kutitila, a vocal mca, noted how Ugandan women married in Kenya have been denied the right of getting Nationals cards as required by the law, stating they are entirely Kenyans by marriage.
“ This is ridiculous if not absurd, women from Uganda who are now our “wives” cannot access ID cards simply because they have been denied !, but come to think of it , IEBC is registering people from Uganda as voters”, he wondered calling for immediate investigations over the matter.
He cited rising cases of Ugandans, claiming lands in Trans Nzoia borders saying that the issue will escalate if appropriate actions will not be taken,
“Honestly we don’t want issues where our lands will be grabbed by imposters, since our people have been lamenting on land grabbing cases from masquerades from Uganda, the issue of registering them must be stopped” he added.
He appealed to IEBC to be verifying each document presented by electorates before they can commence registration
