Students from  Kaptel  Boys High School in Nandi Central went for a peaceful demonstration over shortage of enough teachers in their school a situation they said has paralyzed their learning.

The students demonstrated from their school to the county education headquarters offices in Kapsabet, distance of over 22 Kilometres, to air out their grievances.

According to some students who spoke to West media limited, the school has been facing challenges all through as their teachers are being transferred without replacement a condition which has left out a gap of  8 teachers.

They complained that the situation has been tough to them as the school also runs without a deputy principal demanding the Ministry of Education to chip in and assist to save the state.

Nandi Central Sub-county Education Officer Mr. Joshua Kaga

Speaking to the press, Nandi Central Sub-county Education Officer Mr. Joshua Kaga who addressed the students outside the county government’s offices said according to their records the school has a shortage of about three teachers and not eight according to the student’s grievances.

Kaga said the shortage comes as a result of transfers without replacement promising that the ministry has taken hid of the problem assuring students to solve it accordingly.

He revealed that the school has Six TSC Teachers against the requirement of Nine and that the TSC is working on it to ensure vacancies left by transferred teachers are replaced immediately including that of the deputy principal who was left vacant after he was promoted to a post of a principal.
