There was jubilation at Kitale primary school when pupils received laptop gadgets as the pilot programme of the government of delivering the gadgets to standard one pupils kicked off.
Speaking to the press immediately after the gadgets were delivered to 149 pupils the school principal Margaret Wanyonyi thanked the government for fulfilling the promise it made of making sure that the laptops are given out.
She said the gadgets will go a long way in helping students get acquainted with the relevant education necessary for the changing world which she said was vital.
“Such education will prepare the students at early stage to be informed of the changing trends especially in the world,” she observed.
Mrs. Wanyonyi however said she expected some challenges associated with the new syllabus amongst the students and said as teachers they will work in solidarity to overcome such challenges so that they make the children remain conversant with the digital world.
The laptops were delivered to students by the Moi University staffs that supervised the whole system and fixed it to students in their respective classes.
The county official for education Sternly Shitanda dispelled fears over the possibilities of gadgets that might have information that could pollute the minds of the children and assured parents that the programmes that is contained in the gadgets are child friendly and are in line with the schools learning curriculum that is well adhered to by the ministry of education.
He said the gadgets have passed through several education stakeholders and certified by the ministry of education as the information contained in it meets the education standards as laid down within the syllabus and curriculum of the nation.
Other schools that benefitted from the national Government of issuing laptops included Namanjalala primary school from Kwanza Sub County and Noigam primary school from Cherangany Sub County.
Officials from Moi University of Eldoret had a busy schedule of fixing laptops to the said schools as a way of making sure that all the selected schools within the county are covered.

They however didn’t talk to journalists and efforts from journalists to ask them questions concerning how they procured a tender of fixing such laptops to schools were futile as they declined to talk to the media saying they are not supposed to talk to the media.
