A middle-aged woman is recuperating at Kimilili Sub County hospital after being assaulted by her husband for failing to give him forty shillings to buy local liquor after returning from her daily vegetable selling job at Nasaka village in Bukembe.
Naomi Naliaka, a mother of four, says she was brutally beaten by her husband George Juma after she failed to give him the money since she had not sold anything in her business during the day.
She says he hit her mercilessly breaking her hips and was later taken to Kimilili Sub County hospital by her mother who was called all the way from Chesamisi village. Her husband escaped after committing the act.
Kimilili Sub County hospital medical superintendent Dr. Ashienza Shikuunzi confirmed that the patient’s condition has stabilized and she is still undergoing treatment and counseling at the hospital.
Her mother Alice who has been taking care of her at the hospital called upon the government and the security organs to ensure they arrest the suspected culprit who inflicted the terrible wounds on her daughter saying it has been hard for her to take care of her four grandchildren who are very young.
She disclosed that her daughter had been struggling to take care of her family as her husband, who is a drunkard, does not work hard to bring food saying now that her daughter is bedridden it is going to be tough to take care of her children.
She called upon well wishers to help cater for the accumulating bill at the hospital as well as bring the culprit to justice.
