Boda boda riders in Trans Nzoia County have been urged to visit driving schools and have the required documents necessary for their operation to avoid several cases of accidents and impropriety on the roads. According to Auto Industries Sales and Marketing manager Robert Atacha, most accidents are caused by motorcycle riders who lack the knowledge of traffic operations.
He said most people who are involved in the accidents are youths, and some have sustained serious life changing injuries.
He urged riders to register with driving schools in order to adequately learn the rules and regulations, something which will help to curb accidents on the road.
The manager disclosed that the sale of motorcycles has soared in recent days, given that many youths prefer to venture into boda boda business after they finish their studies.
“We’ve found out it’s better for the youths who are joining the venture to be equipped and gain more knowledge, and am appealing to them to join driving colleges to better their skills,” said Atacha.
He furthermore appealed to motorcycle buyers to be keen while purchasing their bikes, by first considering the right motorcycle for them and the right kits required.
“I advise our customers to put in mind buying bikes along with two helmets, reflectors and gloves as some of the shop attendants normally take advantage of their inability to understand the traffic laws and sell the motorcycles without the fully required assortments,” said Atacha.
He said these during the launch of the BM 125 boxer motorcycle in Kitale, praising it for its fast speed and efficient oil consumption as opposed to other motorcycles. He defended the move to bring the motorcycle to Kitale in Trans Nzoia County, citing that it has a better market as opposed to other counties.
