The doctors’ union officials have revealed that the negotiated CBA is done and ready and all that’s remaining is the signature from the governors to officially end the doctors’ strike. Addressing the press at the Supreme Court in Nairobi, KMPDU Chairperson Samuel Oroko said the frustration from the county governments is delaying the final puzzle in the deal.

“We note the frustration from the county governments,” he said, “We have made amendments to the 2013 CBA to reflect the current structures as they demanded. After agreeing all that, now they say they aren’t ready to sign,” he said.

He insisted that as KMPDU, they are ready and that the document is ready, adding that it’s puzzling why they are prolonging the deal. KMPDU Secretary General Ouma Oluga thanked the religious leaders for the part they’ve played in the negotiation process, adding that President Uhuru Kenyatta’s intervention has also been vital. However, he urged the county governments to act swiftly, “They should not prolong the suffering of Kenyans,” he said.

He said Kenyans will eventually know the details of the CBA, revealing that it involves various issues including the training of doctors.
