President Paul Kagame of Rwanda has stated “I would rather argue that we need to mobilise the right mindsets, rather than more funding. After all, in Africa we have everything we need, in real terms. Whatever is lacking we have the means to acquire. And yet we remain mentally married to the idea that nothing can get moving without external finance. We are begging for things we already have”. That is absolutely a failure of mindset. We would add that it is the failure of leadership all levels. That is the curse of Africa.
We argue that President Paul Kagame’s argument is spot on and to the point. In Kenya we think that creating new positions for the parasitic incorrigible corrupt elected leaders and continuing to allow the said elected leaders and public servants to conjure up grand mega infrastructure projects that offer the highest returns on corruption and also allowing those two parasitic groups to gobble up 75% of the national annual taxes in recurrent expenditure is the panacea for our problems.
We must do reverse engineering on leadership from the way it has operated since independence if we have to get the right mindset to solve the problems bedeviling us and stunting the realization of the basic standards of living for the greatest majority of the citizens. We repeat that if we as citizens cheer on and get hoodwinked by politicians with their talk of changing the Constitutions for inclusivity in political offices for the same politicians then we are doomed to fall from the frying pan into the fire come the next day, and year after the constitutional changes are implemented.
We repeat that the nation of Kenya’s 45 million citizens excluding the two to three million public servants and elected leaders is headed for tougher times with much more hardships unless we reverse the trend where a parasitic less than 5 percent of the citizens of this country eat, consume for their personal interests 75% of the national budget every year under the disguise of recurrent expenditure. How foolish can we be and expect change and prosperity for us all? What mindset do you and I have on governance that we can be conned for 57 years and continue trusting those who con us to be our saviours?
Let a politician come forward and design a government that is elected politicians and public servants that operate , govern the country on 25% of the annual national budget or County budget in recurrent expenditure and then Kenya will start the road to becoming a prosperous nation or if a County then to a prosperous County. That is the question once answered, given a solution then inclusivity will be a given. The rest of the rhetoric being spewed is fraud upon the innocent, timid Kenyans who are willing to have their blood sucked by the parasites called elected leaders and public servants consuming 75% of the national and County budgets on recurrent expenditure.
Yes our mindset must change. Then we will reverse engineer the now exploitative governance contraptions we have to a governance that works for us and is accountable.
