Doctors in Trans Nzoia County have issued a strike notice, and have urged the County government to pay their salary arrears. Led by Trans Nzoia KMPDU secretary Ismael Ayabei, they said another grievances they want addressed is the failure by the County government to remit their statutory deductions to NSSF, NHIF, and KMPDU.
They have vowed to down their tools from Saturday if their demands are not addressed and that they are working under harsh conditions. They have stated that efforts to reach out to the County government to find an amicable solution have been futile since no one wants to listen.
They claimed that they are Covid-19 pandemic front line workers and their families aren’t catered for, and that they don’t have sufficient PPEs, which puts them at risk. “We can’t continue working for this government that doesn’t respect our plight. The only way the government will understand is through strikes,” said Ayabei.
