Nandi Governor Stephen Sang has urged the national government to consider degazetting the leasing interim management committee and set up a new one per the recommendations of the sugar sector task force report that was handed to President Uhuru Kenyatta.
Addressing sugar cane farmers in Chemase, Nandi, Sang said the newly formed committee meant to oversee the leasing of sugar industries should be disbanded, and faulted Agriculture CS Peter Munya for going against the taskforce report recommendations and introducing the leasing model without consultations from the stakeholders.
He added that the government’s implementation of the sugar task force report will facilitate the revival and revitalization of the sugar industry thud urged the government to fully consider it.
