One hundred families out of ten thousand affected by floods in Budalang’i constituency, Busia County have benefited from iron sheets from the Ababu Namwamba Foundation in collaboration with Che’s Bay Carnival Beach.
Each of the families from various parts of the constituency received twenty iron sheets to help them build their houses which were destroyed by floods that wreaked havoc in the area since February 2020.
The aid was handed over to the families at Che’s Bay grounds by Chief Administrative Secretary in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Hon. Ababu Namwamba who is the Foundation’s Managing Director, “Each year we normally sponsor sports activities and help the needy in the society during the December festive season but this year due to the Covid-19 pandemic we decided to help those who were affected by floods.”
The former Budalang’i MP used the opportunity to appeal to other organizations and well-wishers to come in and help more families in the area which were affected by floods, “We still have some two thousand iron sheets where families identified to be most vulnerable will be given. But there are still more families that need help and that is why I’m appealing to well-wishers to come in and give whatever they have to help the flood victims.”
