Shock and grief has engulfed Imalaba village, Ikolomani sub county Kakamega county after the body of a 7 year old girl who went missing a week ago was recovered from an old pit latrine.
The girl identified as Tina was staying with her stepfather Polycarp Omyseti while her mother was away in Kericho at the time the girl went missing.
According to the family, the girl was seen last playing hide and seek game with her friends in the neighborhood on 15th May and never returned home.
A neighbor, Everyone Shitima says the stench from the old latrine that is close to her house prompted them to check inside before discovering the missing girl’s body.
Police retrieved the body that was later taken to Mbale hospital mortuary awaiting postmortem.
The deceased was a nursery pupil at Imalaba primary.
