Businessmen and women from Kapsokwony, Elgon ward in Mt Elgon Constituency led by Bernard Naibei are urging the county government of Bungoma to construct a latrine for them after the county government promised so some years back.
They also revealed that they are forced to walk up to 500 metres away looking for latrines before coming back to continue with their businesses as they said that by doing so they waste a lot of time and end up missing customers who turn up when they are away.
CEC for Lands and Urban Planning in Bungoma County government Bramwel Murgor promised to come up with good planning for the market but up to date the same hasn’t been put in place.
They also encouraged the concerned department to at least include them in decision making process like public participation before implementing anything this is after market stalls that were built some years back have remained unused since they were not involved.
They also complained about poor drainage system in the town where shop owners along the road are the most affected requesting the concerned personnel to come in place and improve it.
Their plea to the national government is to complete the tarmacking of Kapsokwony- Kimilili road so as to easen the transport network where they complained of their farm produce delaying to reach to the market on time due to poor roads.
