The Salvation Army Sango Secondary school students went on rampage earlier on Monday and wrecked classrooms and window panes, among destroying other property worth thousands of shillings.
The leadership of the learning facility, located in Naitiri Kabuyefwe ward in Tongaren constituency is alleged to have denied the students their right and an opportunity to participate in the ongoing secondary school ball games.
According to the parents who spoke to West FM led by Benjamin Juma and Palanga Morris, stated that the students had earlier on complained to have been denied the chance to participate in ongoing secondary school sporting activities.
It is however in the public domain that a number of employees in the learning facility, both teaching and non-teaching staff have gone for over five months without being paid, besides a number of teachers seeking transfers from the institution.
Journalists were denied a chance to speak to the school’s Board of Management who escaped upon arrival of news reporters, besides the school head Mrs. Pamella Kima barricading reporters from having access into the school.
The parents called upon Bungoma County Director of Education Mr.Philip Chirchir together with the Education Cabinet Secretary Prof.George Magoha to step in and bring change in the leadership of the school and ensure that the learning facility is well equipped and managed in order to record good performance in national examinations.
The school is also said to have been performing dismally in national examinations, with parents expressing fear that their children may not achieve their goals of yielding good results and joining institutions of higher learning.
Parents, relentlessly emphasized on the need to change the leadership of the school and employ more staff from Teachers Service Commission among measures that would bring good performance.
