Nandi Governor Stephen Sang has appointed eleven member taskforce to look into the Multinationals tea leases in the tea sector and emerging challenges facing the tea sector in a move to resolve the problems.
Speaking to Journalists, Sang cited that the team will relook at the current and emerging issues facing the Multinationals in tea sector together with other stakeholders in the region where they are required to make tangible recommendations concerning the challenges facing the sector.
The appointed taskforce members include; former Co-operatives Minister Mr. John Cheruiyot who is the taskforce Chair, Rev Elijah Yego, Nandi Agriculture CEC nominee Kiplimo Bernard, Lands CEC nominee Philemon Bureti, Ruth Choge, Nathan Tororei and Acting Finance CEC Alfred Lagat among others.
Others who will serve as members of the taskforce secretariat include; Maureen Chepng’etich, Lawi Kibet and Sang Godfrey respectively.
In a gazette notice, the Governor said that the taskforce has been put in place to carry out an extensive review of the Multinational Company engagements in the tea sector in Nandi.
The County in collaboration with the South Rift County governments of Bomet and Kericho respectively will take a maximum of ninety days with effect from 1st November this year.
