One person died in a grisly road accident that involved a pickup and a tractor at Edmos near Mwamba trading center along Eldoret – Webuye highway in Lugari Sub County.
According to eyewitnesses the accident occurred after the pickup driver who was speeding from Mwamba towards Turbo lost control and rammed into the tractor which was in front after the driver had slowed to divert from the highway towards Edmos primary school.
“I was returning home after dropping children to school when I saw the pickup descending from Mwamba at a very high speed before it rammed into the tractor which was carrying quarry dust,” said Mr. Thomas Karakacha.
One person fell from the tractor and was run over by the pickup killing him on the spot before it veered off the road and landed in a ditch.
Both the pickup and tractor drivers fled after the 6:20am incident leaving the tractor and the vehicle at the scene.
Following an increased number of accidents in the area, residents have appealed for
erection of bumps 66arguing the road posed a danger to them following reckless
driving of motor vehicles.
“We are really disappointed with manner innocent lives have continued to be stolen here, a few week ago a student lost his life after being hit by a speeding truck, today we have lost innocent live, there’s also a time when a speed truck lost control and ploughed its way into a house injuries five family we can’t go on like this we appeal to government to intervene and erect bumps on this road to help check on speeding vehicle, we don’t have a particular number of people that should be killed before something is done they should work on the ways of curbing this ” said angry residents

The body was removed from the scene by officers from Lumakanda police station and taken to Kimbilio Funeral home in the neighboring Uasin Gishu County.
The vehicle and tractor were towed to Turbo police station for inspection.
