Regardless of not having stepped into any secondary school or done KCSE as per the ‘regular’ school curriculum there is a possibility of one to continue with higher learning and even get a degree.
This is possible courtesy of the Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) system, the program identified by the Ministry of Education under the Technical and Vocational Education and Training Authority (TVETA).
The authority was established under the Technical and Vocational Education and Training Act of 2013 and assented into law by the President on January 14, 2013.

TVET offers an alternative to secondary education but with emphasis on training of practical skills.
There are many students who have benefited from this alternative education path and managed to come out successfully.
Kenya has about 500 youth polytechnics and is ambitiously pursuing a policy that will see setting up of at least one polytechnic in each county in an effort to train more skilled talents.
With the Vocational Training Centers in the Counties one can now pursue a certificate, diploma or even continue to get a degree in various skills based courses.
Pupils who completed primary education in various parts of the Kenya at primary level and because of various reasons failed to continue with the 8-4-4 education can join the centers and pursue their dreams.
Parents and guardians have to allow their children to join the vocational training institutes and pursue courses like tailoring, knitting, masonry, carpentry, hairdressing among many others that will enable them earn a living.
Its time for the society to make valid decisions to pursue skills training. The inistitutes also need teachers who will be teaching future generation and with determination one can pursue these skilled training to the level of even acquiring a Masters in them.
There is another path that one could use to further education. It just needs determination and a resilient spirit to become the best in what one does.
