Nandi Deputy Governor Dr. Yulita Mitei has revealed that cases of cancerous diseases are on the rise in the region and has become a major health concern among families.

Speaking in a function, Mitei cited that the disease has a significant social and economic implications to the families thus as Nandi County administration will hid the call on elimination of the cervical cancer and other forms of cancer which is on a spike in the region.

“As County government of Nandi, we will escalate the calls for elimination of cervical cancer and other forms of cancer e.g. throat, colon, prostate etc.” She cited

She called upon women to take advantage of free screening process by regularly visiting clinics and Kapsabet County Referral Hospital affirming that early detection of the disease is critical in dealing and handling the cancerous disease.

Mitei appealed to Nandi residents to consider taking regular medical checkups to ascertain their health instead of waiting for the last minute when the disease has reached a point when it cannot be treated.

Cancer is a disease that has become a monster to the lives of many Kenyans thus there is need for concerted efforts both from the government and the World at large on how to address the situation.
