A 64-bed capacity dormitory at Cheribisi Mixed Day and Boarding Primary school in Kilibwoni ward in Nandi County was razed by fire, in a suspected electric fault case. It’s alleged that the fire broke out when the pupils were in class for their evening studies, and there were no casualties. Property was lost and the disaster response unit from the Nandi County government arrived late, moments when everything had been burnt down.
The school headteacher said they have incurred huge losses, and appealed to the County government, and well-wishers to help the school set up another dormitory for the pupils. Area residents blamed the disaster and response team for not acting quickly to salvage the situation and urged the Nandi County government to always be alert.
