Kapenguria MP Samuel Moroto has challenged the government to come out clear over the alleged misuse and theft of Covid-19 funds at the Ministry of Health.
This comes after an exposé by a local daily on how PPEs prices were inflated, billions of shillings circulated and firms got paid by KEMSA in a supply frenzy.
The MP asked the head of state to be accountable and explain to Kenyans where the donor funds went.
Speaking in his constituency, Moroto appealed to donors to intervene on the matter citing that a lot of money has come to the Country but has been misappropriated.
“They gave the money to support the vulnerable and they should follow it up, given that they have their embassies in the country,” he said, “Health CS Mutahi Kagwe is talking much but without tangible results.”
He also took issue with the misappropriation of Covid-19 funds by County governments citing that nothing has been done at the devolved units.
“There is nothing we are seeing in the County hospitals. We’ve not been told the truth, everything in the Counties concerning the funds is being concealed and we don’t know how much has come to Counties,” he said.
