The contracts of Mumias Sugar Company employees have been terminated, following the decision to place the Company under receivership. In a notice dated 5th November, the Company noted that all employees’ contracts stand terminated from the date of receivership i.e 20th September 2019, and their payments will be dealt with accordingly, “Any payment to the affected employees shall be dealt with in accordance with the provisions of the law,” read part of the notice.
From now on, any employee will be dealt with on a temporary basis, “The receiver shall engage the services of any employee on a temporary basis on mutually agreeable terms until the time when the operations resume.”
Although staff will be recruited on a temporary basis, the Company said priority will however be given to the past employees until the time when the Company’s operations are revived. the sugar miller was placed under receivership by KCB back in September to protect its assets and maintain its operations. The Company’s receiver manager is PVR Rao (Tact Consultancy Services).
