The majority chief whip member of the national assembly for Navakholo constituency Hon. Emmanuel Wangwe has called upon the cabinet secretary for education professor George Magoha to release free educations funds to public schools on time.
Speaking at the official opening of 8 classroom-story buildings at St. Teresa Ebumamu and St. Paul’s Emulakha secondary schools in his constituency, Wangwe says the delay in the disbursement of education funds has interfered with successful preparations of the national exams set to begin next week.
“We urge the cs for education professor George Magoha to move with speed together with CS treasury Ukur Yattani to release funds to school so that candidates who are sitting for national examinations can sit their exams in a good and coordinated manner”, said Wangwe.
He reiterates that school heads are straining a lot to make the ends meet especially during the exam period and this may affect the performance of schools in the national exams.
“These teachers as parents you can see they are borrowing a lot to get funds to run programs in the schools and as of now they don’t have money to buy equipment for students to use in the coming exams and this is because the full capitation has not been released to school accounts.”
This comes as the national assembly awaits president Uhuru Kenyatta to ascend his signature by Tuesday next week to the supplementary budget proposals passed earlier this week by the national assembly. The proposals give a green light to Ukur Yattani to release funds to the ministry of education.
