Tongaren Member of Parliament Dr.David Eseli Simiyu has relentlessly continued to ask locals in Tongaren to distance themselves from a number of politicians across the constituency yearning to disrupt peace during this campaign season and dividing them based on their tribes and political wings.
Speaking in a rally on Lunyu market, Dr. Eseli emphasized on the need for the people of Tongaren to continue living in peace as a family and avoid a number of politicians who may divide them ahead of the General Elections based on their tribes or political wings.
His sentiments come amid a number of incidents in the constituency where youths have been the target by a number of politicians using them to disrupt peace and causing more havoc and discord in political rallies and even funeral places.

Dr.Eseli highlighted the need to embrace mature politics that would transform Tongaren and take it to the next level.
The Democratic Action Party of Kenya Secretary General, who has been in parliament for the last 15 years has asked locals to take him back to the parliament in the upcoming August 9th General Elections to give him another chance to stabilize various sectors in the constituency, among them education, good road networks, industries to create more job opportunities for the youths among others.
The constituency has fourteen candidates namely, David Eseli Simiyu Democratic Action party of Kenya, John Murumba Chikati Ford Kenya, Bethwel Mwambu National Visions Party, Ben Smith Chekwanda, Amani National Congress Party, Isaac Wabuge, Orange Democratic Movement, Silas Musakali United Democratic party, Joseph Mburu USAWA, Kennedy Murunga Jubilee, Sebastian Mukuzi Kikuyu United Democratic Alliance, Lawrence Sean Bifwoli Federal Party of Kenya.
The independent candidates include, John Paul Wanjala, Sylvester Mutoro, David Simiyu Chekombe and Geoffrey Wanyama Matumbai.
Former Secretary Strategy and Delivery Unit office of the Deputy President and Ford Kenya candidate Dr. John Murumba Chikati has emerged one of Dr. Eseli’s close competitors, giving him sleepless nights having eyed the Tongaren seat for the last ten years.

Despite having tried to contest for the seat a number of times but to no avail, Chikati seems not to be giving up that easily.
He has relentlessly been asking locals to change the leadership of Tongaren and give him the opportunity to serve them beginning August 9th, promising to bring change and development.
