With ongoing leadership wrangles in the Ford Kenya Party following a move to remove and replace the party leader Moses Wetangula, ANC deputy party leader Ayub Savula has revealed a similar move being plotted by top NASA officials against his boss and ANC leader Musalia Mudavadi.
Speaking to the media at his home in Manyonyi, Savula disclosed having been approached by one of the NASA affiliate party’s top official asking him to dethrone his party leader Musalia Mudavadi.
“I have received an invitation by an affiliate party in NASA through one of the top officials that I engage in some activities against my party leader Musalia Mudavadi, the issue of the matter is that they have arranged some delegates of ANC so that I can overthrow Mudavadi,” said Savula.
Savula said the move was aimed at destabilizing Mudavadi in Western region where he is rated highly compared to other leaders.
He said those orchestrating the move are falsely accusing Mudavadi of working with the ‘Tanga Tanga’ team associated with Deputy President Dr. William Ruto to undermine the leadership of President Uhuru Kenyatta.
However Savula has promised he will never betray his boss pledging his loyalty and full support for him ahead of the 2022 general elections. “I want to assure Mudavadi that as my senior, I will not do to him what Wafula Wamunyinyi has done to Moses Wetangula in Ford Kenya. I want to tell my brothers who have offered me that opportunity to overthrow Mudavadi that I’m sorry I’m not part of their game. I am a principled leader, I’m still young and my focus now is to become the Governor of Kakamega County but not President,” said Savula, adding that the ANC constitution stated clearly that the party leader shall automatically be the Presidential candidate in the elections.
Savula urged Mudavadi to work closely with President Uhuru Kenyatta to be in a better position to take over the Presidency from him.
He said Mudavadi’s opponents are scared that he is gaining popularity in the country thus faking excuses to spoil his ambitions.
“I’m sure this game is being played like this because of the perception that Mudavadi is working with Ruto and they are determined to eliminate all Ruto elements. I have asked Mudavadi not to listen to any advice from a party technocrat who has no idea about politics, not to listen to political sycophants from ODM or Jubilee. He should stand as a man because he is like an attractive girl ahead of the 2022 elections in terms of the Presidency,” said Savula.
He said as deputy party leader he knows Mudavadi has no any association with the Deputy President, castigating his opponents for misleading President Uhuru Kenyatta.
At the same time Savula appealed to the ODM leader Raila Odinga to convene an urgent NASA summit meeting to discuss the differences with the coalition. He urged Raila to stop listening to political brokers who aim was to split the coalition.
