Churches have been urged not to slacken their stand of praying for the nation as Kenyans prepare for the August General elections. While addressing members of Friends Bungoma Quakers Church in Bungoma, Kanduyi Member of Parliament Wafula Wamunyinyi praised the initiative taken by the church to offer direction in the electoral law dispute which involved the government, opposition and IEBC, that saw the resignation of Isaack Hassan and his team.

“I would like to thank Friends Church in particular for the prayers for the nation, which have enabled us to have peace. As Kanduyi MP, I remember when we had afflictions on the electoral law that caused demonstrations that led to deaths and injuries among Kenyans, the church intervened and a consensus was reached. Therefore, I thank Christians for coming together and ensuring that peace prevails in our country,” stated Wamunyinyi.

Wamunyinyi urged all politicians to campaign peacefully and bear in mind that politics come and go but Kenya as a nation will remain. He also wanted all supporters of different parties to stop hatred and incitements that may result to fights among themselves.

“Let’s not discriminate people based on religious grounds, let everybody enjoy the rights of the Constitution, and to supporters of different parties, embrace peace throughout this campaigning period until 8th comes, you don’t need to run up and down causing chaos,” he asserted.

However, the Kanduyi MP used that chance to request Kanduyi residents to vote for him again so that he may continue serving them as he outlined some of his development projects.

“I will defend my seat as your MP, therefore, Kanduyi people when 8th comes consider me for I have been on the forefront to defend your interests and community assets which I’ve managed and maintained on behalf of the society,” he said.
