Early pregnancies in school going girls have been criticized by a political activist from Webuye West constituency who termed it as an act that mortify development in the society.
Speaking to residents in Mukite Primary school, Kennedy Wanjala said that girl – child abuse hinders progress as he urged all parents to provide their children with basic needs so as to avoid being misused by men in the name of giving them assistance.
“I want to encourage parents to work hard in your daily tasks to make sure that your children go to school at the expected time as you also give them what they require.” He said.
“I want also to ridicule the act that happened in Chelebei Secondary School in Mt. Elgon where over 20 students were impregnated, it was very unfortunate, I know that here in Webuye it is also there but it is only that you don’t speak up,” added Wanjala.
Wanjala also urged political leaders to respect chiefs, their assistants and village elders so as to make their work easy as he urged Webuye West residents to form groups that will enable them benefit from the projects that sponsors will give support to.
“I want to thank chiefs, assistant chiefs and village elders for the work they are doing.” said Wanjala.
Wanjala said it is unfair to criticize chiefs and assistant chiefs every time they perhaps go astray saying they should also be appreciated for the work they did in educating people on voter registration.
“Very soon I am going to start a project that will be beneficial to all people. I will be launching the project and I wish that everybody attends to benefit from it,” He added.
