Police in Kitale are holding 106 Soccer fans who were on Tuesday
night arrested on the outskirts of Kitale town while watching a UEFA
Champions League semi-final match pitying Chelsea Football Club
against Real Madrid C.F. during curfew time.
The group which comprises fans of Chelsea Football Club and rivals who
support Arsenal and Manchester United (including one lady) were
arrested at Spanner Video Shop at Shanty slums by police officers who
were on patrol.
While confirming the arrests, Transnzoia county commander of police
Fredrick Ochieng claimed the youths were arrested after being unruly
and that they were making a lot of noise making the environment
unbearable for the neighbors who also complained concerning the
unruly behavior.
Ochieng has called upon the residents in the county to continue
observing Covid-19 containment measures stating that police will not relent as rules are not adhered to by some individuals.
“They will be arraigned in court to answer to charges of contravening
the Covid- 19 containment guidelines and security operations to restrict
movements during curfew time will go on,” Trans Nzoia county police
commander Fredrick Ochien’g said.
