Leaders condemn Trans Nzoia govt for selling stage
Leaders in Trans Nzoia County has condemned the manner into which the county Government sold a stage to a private developer who wants to set up a petrol station.
Led by the county MP Janet Nangabo and area MP David Lazaro, the leaders said they were shocked in the way the county government went ahead selling the stage without consulting the business people.

Nangabo wondered how the county Government went against the spirit of consultation and procured the stage without involving the business men who are occupying the stage.
She told the business community never to move from the stage because they were not consulted and promised to move to court to help them in their case which she said she had a right to.
“I want to tell you never should you be moved by intimidation’s of this County Government of Trans Nzoia, I tell you stay put because this is where your daily food comes from,” said Nangabo amid applause from the crowd.
The county Mp told the traders that she will take up the matter together with area mp David Lazaro even go to court to stop illegal takeover of the stage.

On his part Saboti Mp David Lazaro told the traders to remain put at the stage alleging that it’s the county Government of Trans Nzoia that should be blame for the woes bedeviling them as the manner into which it arrived in transactions of selling the stage to a private developer was not procedural and infringed on their right to public participation and consultations.
He was quick to echo the sentiments made by her woman MP Nangabo of using other avenues of finding justice for the traders in court if the county administration will not heed to the cries made by them.
Lazaro said there was nothing good the county Government can show to the public that it has done and its time residents should question its performance.
He said he was dismayed in the manner the county officials have been embezzling funds for citizens meant for the residents and petitioned residents to come out in large numbers and demand for accountability of their resources which he said was their right.

He made laughter when he once again revisited the counties purchase of a referral hospital that is under renovation and parts construction terming the pan was arrived at without proper consultation amongst the county administration and leaders of the county at arriving on the decision of purchase of the said hospital which he termed the building
as condemned.
“The county Government is bragging of having purchased a building that is turning it to referral hospital but it should know that the building was condemned and has nothing to show to the public what actually it has done to the county”, said Lazaro to the applause of the crowd.
He said he was prepared to hold demonstrations with the traders as a way of showing solidarity so that they compel the county administration to rescind the decision of selling a plot to the developer.
It is alleged that the county Government of Trans Nzoia went into agreement with the said developer who is planning to put up a petrol station at the site an action that has angered traders who were operating at the plot.
