A family at Macho village, Mautuma location in Lugari Sub County is in a panic state following the disappearance of remains of a child buried a week ago under unclear circumstances.
Mrs Everlyn Nasimiyu, the grandmother to the deceased, narrated to the press the shocking incident.
According to the granny, her unmarried daughter safely delivered a child on 19th January, but unfortunately, the child passed away the following day.
“My daughter informed her boyfriend who stays in Nairobi about the unfortunate event,” said Nasimiyu.
The granny added besides the kid’s father giving consent for the burial of the deceased, he also supported the family financially.
However, she was shocked after discovering remains of the body, which was laid to rest nine days ago, had been exhumed out of the grave.
“I alerted villagers who helplessly milled around the scene,” added the granny.
With no traces of evidence, Nasimiyu ruled out the possibility of dogs or wild animals being behind the incident.
“Besides the fact the grave was three feet deep, the body had been carefully wrapped in pieces of white clothes and ‘lesos’, surrounded by two layers of hard cartons,” disclosed Nasimiyu adding neither the clothes nor the cartons could be traced.
Police officers at Mlimani post have launched investigations into the incident.
