A disagreement has been witnessed among some members of FORD-Kenya party in Trans Nzoia County, with a faction in the party intending to oust some leaders in the party from office. Another group, led by Kwanza MP Ferdinand Wanyonyi were quick to rubbish the move, however, insisting that the alleged members removed from their positions are still leaders.
Earlier on a faction led by Organising Secretary of the party in the County Patrick Simiyu claimed to have ousted the current leaders in the County, who include Secretary General of the party within the County Martin Waliaula, his deputy Jackson Muganda, the County Women Affairs Chairlady Sorophine Masakari, deputy organising secretary Edward Munabi, Kwanza chairman Peter Puuka and Kiminini treasurer Mulongo Wanambisi
The leaders allied to Governor Khaemba said they made changes because the party elections are close and it was prudent enough to have leaders devoid of corruption, who aren’t inclined to any political divisiveness.
However, Kwanza MP Ferdinand Wanyonyi rubbished the list of leaders newly appointed by the leaders as replacements, claiming it was a coup that was unacceptable. He disclosed that the party will hold its internal elections to select leaders after the General elections.
He said he will call for a meeting to discuss the move made by the Party Organising Secretary Patrick Simiyu, which was against the party’s constitution. He said according to the party rules, the only people authorized to call for a meeting are the Party Chairman and the Secretary General.
Wanyonyi defended the alleged ousted leaders saying status quo remains and that they are legally in office until after elections.
He claimed that there was a force operating behind the scenes, dictating the steps of leaders who claimed to oust the sitting officials, and he questioned the motive behind the move and he said the motive behind the meeting that brought to fruition the whole plan will be known. “We would like to know who sponsored the meeting, the motive behind it and who financed the meeting,” he said, citing that there was someone operating behind the shadows to set up the suspicious plan.
