The County government of Nandi has officially suspended the ongoing roadworks for a period of two weeks due to unfavourable weather pattern currently being experienced in Nandi and other parts of the country. Addressing the press in his office, Nandi Governor Stephen Sang confirmed the decision to suspend the roadworks is due to the bad weather, with heavy downpour causing machine and equipment breakdown, and huge costs are incurred as a result.
He affirmed that the process will resume after two weeks, adding that the drivers and workers, in general, will gain valuable rest time and will learn more about the equipment. He said the move will affect 120 contractors in the County for that given period of time.
He also flagged off more road equipment comprising of a drum roller worth Kshs 10.2 million, case excavator worth Kshs 25.9 million and a low loader which cost Kshs 15.1 million.
Speaking after the flagging off the equipment, the Governor said he’ll continue to deliver according to his manifesto, for Nandi residents by ensuring there is good road connectivity.
