The final steps marking the life journey commenced for the late Dennis Musundi Omondi, who succumbed to blood cancer on July 27th. A funeral service was held for the former West Media journalist at Kenyatta National Hospital Chapel on Thursday, and family and friends were present. Friends from the media fraternity outlined the exemplary qualities that set him out in the media profession, including his teamwork, work ethic, and the professional help he offered many.

After the service, his body was transported to the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport, where it was to be airlifted to Kisumu International Airport, and then transported via road to the home in Busia. Burial preparations are underway, with the burial set for Saturday 2nd August.
Dennis had kept a strong mental fort, after being diagnosed with acute meloid leukaemia, and being admitted at KNH on 10th January 2018. He was later referred to Apolo Hospital in India on 7th February to undergo a bone marrow transplant and his medication started on 8th February. However, after undergoing three sessions of chemotherapy in preparation for the transplant, matching tests from his siblings didn’t produce a full matched donor and even a search at the world bone marrow bank didn’t yield successful results. He was discharged from Apolo Hospital on 8th June to continue with the last two cycles at KNH. He was well but things turned sour on 25th July, till his demise on 27th July.
