Around six families and residents of Chepkaroi, Tulwop Moi and Soba River in Tindiret constituency in Nandi County affected by heavy rains and landslides have been evacuated to Chepkaroi primary school for safety purposes.
Speaking during the visit at the site, Nandi County commissioner Mr Olaka Kutswa said the landslides happened on Monday night in two locations of Kabolebo and Chepkemel in Songhor/Soba and Tindiret ward respectively.
Kutswa confirmed that there were no cases of casualties and that one person who was swept away by the raging waters but is currently undergoing treatment at Meteitei sub-county hospital in Tindiret and is in stable condition.
The commissioner has asked residents from across the County who are living in landslide prone areas to vacate to safer places for their safety especially in this period of heavy rains so as to avoid casualties and disasters.
He has directed all the chiefs and their assistants to ensure those living in dangerous places move to safer places immediately.
Nandi County is among the Counties that experience landslides and flooding during the long and heavy rains season.
