Professor Donald N. Siamba has been appointed the Deputy Vice Chancellor (Administration, Finance and Development). In an internal memo from the office of the Vice Chancellor Prof. Isaac Ipara Odeo, dated 3rd June, the appointment was confirmed, and Siamba will serve for a contract period of 5 years with effect from June 1st 2020.
The memo was from the VC to all staff, “I take this opportunity to congratulate Prof. Siamba on his appointment,” said Ipara. The appointment had already stirred unrest among residents and leaders who were pushing for him to fill the slot permanently. In a recent interview with West FM, Education PS Amb. Simon Nabukwesi had urged locals and leaders to give the government the space and time to deal with the issue.
Prof. Siamba took over the Deputy VC spot in acting capacity from May 4th 2019 after Shem Aywa resigned. However, his role in acting capacity had been extended to May 2020.
