11 candidates cleared by IEBC to contest for the three County top seats

A total of eleven candidates contesting for the three County elections positions in Nandi County including the gubernatorial, senatorial and Woman Representative’s seats have been cleared by the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission(IEBC) Nandi County Branch to contest for the positions in August 9th General Elections.

Nandi County Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission elections Manager Mr. Silas Rotich while addressing Journalists in Kapsabet, said the Commission has managed to clear eleven candidates so far for the top County positions.

“We have cleared eleven candidates to contest for various positions especially the three County elections that is the Governor, Senator and Woman Representative respectively.” Rotich confirmed.

He added that in gubernatorial race six candidates have been cleared and in senatorial race two candidates and in Woman Representatives three candidates have been cleared.

The County elections manager further confirmed that so far they have finalized the process of clearing candidates to contest for elections urging the candidates as they embark on their campaigns to exercise political tolerance and stick to the rules and regulations of the Commission.

The Officer held a meeting with all the candidates and their running mates, the  main objective of the meeting being to go through the electoral code of conduct and the elections offences and since they are no longer aspirants but candidates, they were informed to comply with the code of conduct.

He revealed that the Commission has asked all the candidates to ensure they have harmonized their campaigns to ensure there is no clashes or candidates’ confrontations.
