Kwanza MP Ferdinand Wanyonyi has supported the proposed finance bill 2023-24 that seeks to tax government employees 3% tax towards building of affordable houses noting that the move will help them own their houses later that will boost their economic potential.
President Dr. William Ruto has been on the fore front calling upon MPs especially on his Kenya Kwanza side to pass the proposed bill in the National Assembly when it will be introduced with a section of opposition led by its leader Raila Odinga marshaling its troops in the Assembly to shoot down the bill stating that it will over burden the employees.
Teachers also in Trans Nzoia County led by their Union Secretary General -KUPPET Furaha Lusweti has opposed the proposal of claiming they already have their houses constructed and that they have unions also that taxes them calling upon MPs to reject the bill on the floor of the house when it will be introduced.
However, on his part, Kwanza MPappealed to teachers and employees in the country to support the initiative noting that the tax was not false as it will help catapult their income because they will own
houses which they can use to rent hence help them as a source of income.
Speaking this when he joined the administration of Kolongolo Boys secondary school when he opened a dormitory constructed through NG-CDF kitty after the former dormitory was razed down by fire; the Kwanza legislator stated that he will support the bill once it will be presented in the Assembly calling upon other legislators to support the move.
Wanyonyi noted that the opposition was out to wreck leadership of President Ruto urging Kenyans to support him and never accept to be cheated by leaders on the opposition side
