Teachers from across Nandi County have been reminded to ensure they get vaccinated against Covid-19 pandemic ahead of school re-opening on Monday so as to be on the safer side.
Chesumei Member of parliament Hon Wilson Kogo who is one of the parliamentary committee member of education, cited that teachers should get vaccinated as they will be handling students in schools and should guarantee themselves health safety through vaccination.
Kogo who was speaking at a function in his constituency urged the school heads to ensure Covid-19 protocols are followed and adhered to properly for the safety of our children.
“Teachers are front line workers and should get vaccinated before school reopening on Monday,” he affirmed.
Kogo revealed that himself as a member of parliament has been vaccinated adding that he has not encountered any effects of the jab thus is safe and secure and there is no need for teachers to fear.
Schools will be officially reopening this Monday across the country for third term session despite Covid-19 pandemic which has caused threat to life thus learning institutions should strictly follow the Ministry of health’s’ directives by ensuring there is enough water for hand washing water points and sanitizers to help the school fraternity keep and stay safe.
