A father and his daughter perished in a fatal accident after they were knocked by a speeding lorry at Mukhonje trading center along Eldoret-Webuye highway in Matete, Kakamega County.
The father Boniface Luvai had gone to pick his daughter Lavin Luvai who is a form one student at Silungai Girls Secondary school in the neighbouring Malava sub county when the tragedy occurred Wednesday evening.
The deceased are residents of Maji Mazuri village in Lugari sub location, Lugari sub county and Luvai is said to have been taking his daughter to the school every morning and going to pick her up in the evening using a motorbike before they met their death.

According to eyewitnesses the accident occurred after the driver of the lorry which was speeding from Webuye towards Eldoret carelessly moved to the opposite side of the road to avoid hitting a bump before colliding head on with the motorbike that was approaching from the opposite direction seriously injuring the two.
They were rescued and rushed to a nearby private hospital where they died while undergoing treatment.
The lorry driver fled leaving it at the scene before it was towed to Lumakanda police station
